Emergency Food Programs
No one should go hungry Food insecurity remains a serious concern in Contra Costa County. According to Stanford’s-datalab.github an estimated 8.1% of children live in households experiencing food insufficiency, meaning many residents struggle to afford enough food even if they do not fall below the official poverty line. Rising food costs and the expiration of pandemic-era supports have further increased the need for emergency food assistance.
VESTIA partners with the Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services Department (EHSD) to provide food to individuals and families experiencing crisis situations. Clients of EHSD can receive up to three days’ worth of food from food pantries located in EHSD offices throughout Contra Costa County. These pantries supply nutritious, essential food items designed to meet immediate needs and support family stability during times of hardship.
Each month, the Emergency Food Program continues to provide hundreds of households with vital food resources when they need them most.
This program is sustained through the continued generosity of local churches, the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, and caring community donors. Through these partnerships, VESTIA remains committed to alleviating hunger and ensuring that no one in Contra Costa County goes without food.
