Vestia, Inc. Awarded Two Grants

/ / Blog Post

Vestia, Inc is awarded two grants to support the children and families of Northern California.

The first is a $3,000 Pandemic Relief Grant from Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary to Volunteer and Emergency Services Team in Action (Vestia) Emergency Food Program.  This grant will allow us to support the more than 10% of the population in Contra Costa County that is below the Federal Poverty Level. VESTIA partners with Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services Department (EHSD) to provide food for families in crisis situations.

Clients of EHSD can receive up to three days’ worth of food from food pantries in EHSD offices throughout the Contra Costa County. In 2017, the VESTIA Emergency Food Program served over 3,500 individuals and typically feeds between 300-500 families each month through our food pantries, emergency food boxes and grocery store food cards.

The second is a grant from the Taylor Family Foundation at Camp Arroyo to support the work Vestia Inc. is doing with local families and children and the life changing opportunities Vestia provides for children in Northern California living with a special need or are at-risk due to circumstances beyond their control.

These two grants allow Vestia Inc to continue the work post pandemic and to continue support with our special partnership with the Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department.
